Wake Up Honey - It's Only a Nasty Flashback

by cadgate 7. December 2007 15:21

I knew there was something about this date. Ed Grice reminds me that it was on this date, December 7, 2006 that - after a nice white start - things went warm last winter. And unfortunately I can’t seem to forget how it stayed that way for over a month. Yeah, we still had decent skiing and riding, but let’s face it, both quantity and quality wasn’t what it can be.

Is that why my subconscious has kept me from bringing out my new RaceTigers yet? Well it’s a new winter  - and in so many ways - it’s time to wake up and get rational (and break out those new skis).

This year, ideal snowmaking conditions and new natural snow are continuing right on through this nasty anniversary, and - check Accuweather.com - this pattern continues right off the end of the forecast, which is to say for at least the next 15 days. With daytime temps forecast in the high 20’s and nighttime lows in the mid-teens, the snow guns will continue to roar. At those temperatures, you know lake effect natural snow will continue to pile up as well.  It can’t help but be a very merry Christmas holiday this year. Make your plans - there will be plenty for everybody - and with all venues open (including 850 acres of skiing and riding terrain, plus X-C trails, and surrounding snowmobile trails, and ice rinks) you won’t find heavy traffic on your favorite run. This year the question will indeed be, "What are you up for?"
