Spring in Boyne Country.
Daylight lingers with warm sun spurring flocks of birds to push north.
Snowmelt flows out local streams prompting Steelhead to rush into northern rivers.
St. Patrick’s day looms, inspiring many a party goer to assemble ski or snowboard equipment and head to BOYNE.
It is unquestioned. Instinctive. Birds and fish do it to facilitate nesting and breeding. Many of the people heading to BOYNE are driven by similar motives. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Skiing has long been considered the sexiest sport. We have to continue the species. A ski hill beats a smoky bar any day.
But this party really grew around some of the year’s best conditions. Don’t get so lost in the party that you miss out on the spread. Ride the hill. Gobble up those mashed potatoes and chase it with a hearty serving of corn snow. Get your fill, if you can. Then you'll REALLY have a reason to celebrate.
Now is your chance to say goodbye to the ski season. It doesn’t mean things are over, in fact, this is shaping up to be one of the best spring seasons we've seen in years. We’re just close enough to see the end.
It’s funny how things are always sweeter when we know they won’t last.
