U.S. 131 Detour Information
For those of you driving north via U.S. 131, the bridge over the Manistee River, north of Cadillac, is being repaired and is closed for the winter. BOYNE recommends the detour route which takes you through Lake City. The detour has you getting off U.S. 131 onto M-55, just south of Cadillac, heading east to M-66 and taking that north (through Lake City) to Kalkaska where you again intersect U.S. 131 to continue heading north. The overall mileage is similar, but since you will be on two-lane highway, please allow for some extra travel time. Please click on the map graphic to view the alternate route in detail or visit MDOT.
