Boyne Falls, Mich., December 6, 2007 - This weekend, Boyne Mountain becomes home to the largest skiable terrain open in the Midwest with a minimum of thirty-five projected runs to the delight of skiers and snowboarders everywhere.  Aiding in uphill transport, the resort will run seven chairlifts and a Magic Carpet conveyor lift.

Boyne Mountain's jump on its 59th season has already been one for the record books.  Slopes first opened to hundreds of enthusiasts on Thanksgiving weekend, and then quickly reopened for the season only five days later on November 30.  A start like this hasn't been seen at Boyne Mountain since 96/97'.

The accelerated start is courtesy of a union of bountiful natural snowfall and a $350,000 investment in snowmaking that has allowed Boyne Mountain's crew to efficiently increase snow output while grooming their way to a very successful season.

"The trio of snowmaking investments, ideal temperatures and natural snowfall has enabled us to quickly expand terrain and diversity to create an incredible on-hill experience," said Ed Grice, general manager of Boyne Mountain.  "Having mid-winter like conditions this early in the season - it just doesn't get any better than this."

The resort's snowmakers remain hard at work and additional efforts are underway for a near future opening of the terrain park and superpipe for freestyle fans.

The abundant natural snow has also propelled Boyne Mountain's cross country operations to a weekend opening with 10-15 kilometers of trails groomed.  The Nordic Center offers rentals and instruction and plans to open more trails soon.

Fellow Boyne Resorts property, Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs, is welcoming back skiers and riders this Friday, December 7 as the resort celebrates their season opener with a minimum of eighteen runs and five chairlifts over the weekend.

Regular operating hours of 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM are in effect along with early season lift tickets prices good through the weekend.

BOYNE season passes are now an even greater value considering this season's banner launch and Boyne Mountain's commitment to make enough snow to be the last to close, therefore giving passholders even more days on the slopes.  The BOYNE Pass and Frequent Skier/Rider Card can be purchased online at www.BOYNE.com or by visiting the resorts' front desk.  The BOYNE Pass offers skiing and riding at Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands, plus discounts or free lift tickets to all Boyne Resorts including Big Sky Resort in Montana, Sunday River Resort and Sugarloaf in Maine, Loon Mountain in New Hampshire and mountains in Utah, Washington and British Columbia.
