Boyne Falls, Mich. (February 8, 2012) – Solace Spa at Boyne Mountain Resort has partnered with UNION/YOGA of Lake Leelanau to offer a 200-hour classic Yoga Teacher Certification available to guests this spring and fall.  The 28-day courses are scheduled for April 15 to May 12, and October 21 to November 17.  The program also benefits those with a desire for personal growth and in-depth experiential yoga revelation.

The certification classes take place at Solace Spa and are led by Sandra Carden, director of UNION/YOGA, a premier northern Michigan yoga studio, and teachers Reb Andrews and Dr. Maureen Mead.  Sessions take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and participants learn yoga history, philosophy, methodology, technique, chakra, Sanskrit, anatomy, physiology, yoga lifestyle, ethics, teaching theory and business skills.  Each day includes practical, hands-on experience.

UNION/YOGA was established in 1989 and Carden offers 35 years of practice.  Her yoga experience has embraced a wide range of teachers and traditions and her teaching style is one that is personal, eclectic, clear, precise and spiritual.  Carden has studied yoga philosophy and Buddhism at Naropa University; yoga history, philosophy and literature at Sonoma State University and American Sanskrit Institute; and also has certifications in Svaroopa yoga and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy.

“Sandra and UNION/YOGA set the bar for yoga instruction and Boyne Mountain offers an ideal environment to enjoy while learning and studying yoga,” said Sean Handler, Boyne Resorts’ Michigan director of spas.

Those enrolled in the certification also have daily access to Solace Spa’s facilities including the relaxation lounges, whirlpool, steam room and cedar sauna, indoor/outdoor swimming pool and hot tubs, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, group exercise classes and more.  Tuition also includes a 30% discount on spa and salon services and lunch daily.

Tuition cost is $2,943 per person and program space is limited.  For reservations or more information, please call UNION/YOGA at 231-256-2100 or visit www.unionyoga.com.  Boyne Mountain Resort is offering group accommodations starting at $969 for the 28-day stay.  Lodging accommodations should also be reserved by contacting UNION/YOGA.
