Boyne Mountain Wakeboard Camp

Boyne Mountain

BOYNE is happy to welcome back Brian Snabes and his WakeBoard Clinic team for another late summer run of five-day wakeboarding camps at Boyne Mountain. All sessions offer campers a safe and fun environment to progress wakeboarding skills while making new friends.  All activities take place at Boyne Mountain and on the resort's beautiful Deer Lake.

Camp Breakdown

All camps open to boys and girls ages 7-16.

Safety: Every coach, whether teaching or driving the boat, promotes a safe and fun environment for their campers.  Everyone must follow all boat rules and Code of Conduct.

Fun: Coaches do their best to make each campers' experience at Boyne Mountain fun and memorable.  Campers are never forced to do anything they do not feel comfortable doing.  Coaches help students get past their fears and in-turn, progress.

New Friends: Campers have the opportunity to spend the week getting to know seven other people who have similar interests through healthy, sporting activities and team building situations.

2009 Camp Dates:

  • August 9 - 13
  • August 16 - 20
  • August 23 - 27

Activities & Sessions

Wake Session: During every wakeboard camp session, each camper rides two sets, working on advancing their skill level.  Each student gets at least 40 minutes of riding behind the boat during a set.  The first set is a warm-up and to establish goals for the second set.  The second ride is dedicated to accomplishing goals established during the first set.  Every camper should come away from the session with plenty of new things to work on to better their ability to ride a wakeboard.

Tramp Session: During designated tramp time, campers learn the fundamentals of jumping on a trampoline safely and effectively.  These new skills learned help to lead students into learning wakeboarding technique behind the boat.  A wake handle is used to simulate proper positioning of the body and handle while jumping, spinning and flipping.  Flipping maneuvers are limited to campers who have demonstrated good form in all other aspects of jumping.

Waterpark: Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark, centrally located at Boyne Mountain, is utilized to give the campers time to have fun on the waterslides, as well as spend time working on their surfing skills.  The park's stationary surf simulator gives campers a chance to work on their balance in a new way.  Coaches work with campers on the finer art of dropping in on and catching the standing wave.

Beach Activities: During free time at the beach, campers are entertained with a variety of activities including kayaking, putt putt golf, beach volley ball, shuffleboard and  trampoline.

Kayaking: Campers work with a partner and learn how to safely operate/navigate a two-person sea kayak around Deer Lake.  Kayaking is a great upper body workout that helps campers to develop better strength for wakeboarding.

Biking: Campers have the opportunity to tour Boyne Mountain on mountain bikes.  Campers take trails all around the mountain as well as back and forth from the condos to the lake.  Helmets must be worn at all times while campers are biking.  Biking is a great lower body work out which helps to strengthen the legs for wakeboarding.

Campfire: Each night, campers and coaches gather around a campfire and enjoy roasted marshmallows, and drinks.  The campfire time is used to recap everything experienced during the day and to talk about goals for the next day.

Condo Time: Condo time at the end of the day is for campers to wind down and get ready for bed.  Video games, movies, board games and other personal items may be used at this time.  Male coaches stay with the boy campers and a volunteer mother stays with the girls in their condo each evening.

Food: Food is provided by Boyne Mountain.  Campers dine in numerous resort restaurants throughout the session.

  • Beach House Restaurant
  • Everett's
  • Trophy Room Pub & Pizzeria
  • Boxed Lunches
