BOYNE Fires Up Snow Guns for 2013/14 Season

BOYNE FALLS, Mich. - Lower Michigan's two largest ski areas, Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs and Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, have fired up their snow guns for the 2013/14 season.

Boyne Highlands, celebrating 50 years this winter, flipped the switch on more than 200 snow guns yesterday morning, November 11, just after 9:30 a.m.   The resort has been making snow around the clock and expects the run to last 36-hours or more.  At Boyne Mountain, the resort's fleet of snow guns has been cranking out snow since 5 p.m. yesterday.

Mother Nature added her own dusting of snow at the resorts and the colder temperatures have cooperated in allowing the ski resorts to start building their base.  The resorts' snowmaking crews both utilize proprietary technology in the Boyne Low-E fan gun, which increases the marginal temperature capability and efficiency of their snowmaking.

For the 2013/14 season, the resorts combined have invested nearly $3 million dollars.  In addition to celebrating its 50th season, Boyne Highlands has added 31 Boyne Low-E fan guns, a new PistenBully 400 winch cat, increased rental equipment, expanded The Spa, and offers guests a remodeled Main Lodge pool.  At Boyne Mountain, the 2013/14 season brings 20 additional Boyne Low-E fan guns, a new PistenBully 400 winch cat, new 360 degree SuperLOOPTM extreme body slide at Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark opening in December, renovated Boynehof Lodge rooms, and an expanded fleet of rental equipment.

The resorts do not yet have a projected opening date, but slopes are guaranteed to open as soon as quality conditions allow.
