Boyne Highlands' Brew-Ski Festival Offers a Hoppin' Good Time

HARBOR SPRINGS, Mich. - The fifth annual Brew-Ski Festival, March 8, at Boyne Highlands Resort has become a spring rite of passage for craft beer lovers and winter enthusiasts.  Soft snow, warmer March temperatures, live music, grilled food, and more than 220 of the tastiest beers from Michigan and across the globe delight event goers.

After a morning enjoying Lower Michigan's largest ski resort with 55 trails on 435 scenic, skiable acres, the hops start flowing at noon.  The event is staged outdoors at the base of the slopes where beer lovers can take their pick from over 220 craft beer, cider and mead varieties, all served up on snow bars throughout the festival area.  More than 20 Michigan breweries are represented, as well as the finest breweries from North America and Europe.

The Galactic Sherpas entertain with live music all afternoon, and grilled brats from Tannery Creek, hot soft baked fresh pretzels, and chili, wash down the suds. Home brewers also have the chance to talk brewing with the Michigan Hop Alliance and Bad Teacher Brewing Supply, both on hand for the event.

Admission to the beer tasting area is free; must be at least 21 years of age to enter. Sampling tickets can be purchased for the four-ounce beer tastings, as well as for food and merchandise.

The fun flows outdoors until 5 p.m., when the Aaron Vaughn Band takes the stage indoors for a classic Zoo Bar party until 8 p.m.  The Remedee performs in the Slopeside Lounge starting at 9 p.m.

A special Brew-Ski Festival event package is available offering two nights' hotel lodging at Boyne Highlands Resort, a Friday night hors d'oeuvres reception, breakfast daily, lift tickets on Saturday from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., commemorative T-shirt and pint glass, plus five drink tickets.  The package starts at $262 per person.  For reservations, call 800.462.6963 or visit
