BOYNE Golf Also Debuts Dynamic Pricing and New Course Apps
Petoskey, Mich. - Those eagerly awaiting the completion of Arthur Hills' redesign of Crooked Tree Golf Club in Petoskey, now have their chance to play. The redesigned course opened today, Friday, June 20, 2014.
Work began last fall and continued this past spring at Crooked Tree Golf Club where distinguished golf course architect Arthur Hills redesigned Nos. 16, 17, and 18 to make the course more playable. Hills and his associates at Hills & Forrest-International Golf Course Architects made significant changes. The greens on all three holes were remodeled, and on Nos. 16 and 17, the greens were relocated. Fairway work included decreasing the slope on No. 16 and reshaping Nos. 17 and 18. Extensive bunker work on No. 18 was also completed.
"This project was not without its fair share of challenges with heavy rains both in the fall and the spring that forced us to redo work several times over, but we couldn't be happier with the final product," said Bernie Friedrich, Boyne Resorts' senior vice president of golf and retail. "It's always an honor to work with Mr. Hills and his mark on this course will leave golfers wanting to play it again and again."
This is the third project that BOYNE Golf and Arthur Hills have collaborated on. In the mid-90s, Hills and Boyne Resorts' President of Eastern Operations, Stephen Kircher, designed the renowned Bay Harbor Golf Club. Hills also constructed his namesake course, Arthur Hills, in 1999 at Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs.
Crooked Tree Golf Club was originally designed by Harry Bowers and opened in 1991. The course is a favorite in northern Michigan for its challenging elevated terrain, impeccable greens, centuries-old hardwoods, and breathtaking scenic vistas of Lake Michigan's Little Traverse Bay. BOYNE Golf Introduces Dynamic Pricing
BOYNE Golf has also debuted dynamic pricing for its collection of 11 golf courses set in the Petoskey area of northern Michigan. Dynamic pricing allows for greater flexibility of tee time pricing with greens fees set based on demand. By booking early or during times when there's less demand, such as midweek or early evening, golfers are able to score reduced rates as compared to a standard set greens fee schedule. BOYNE Golf offers an online system enabling golfers to search by specific course with date and time, or for those who are price sensitive, to sort by rate for the best deal available across all 11 golf courses. Golfers can check pricing and make tee time reservations at BOYNE.com/golf.
New Apps Provide Enhanced Course Guides
Beginning in July, new Apps are available for download from Bay Harbor Golf Club in Bay Harbor and the Donald Ross Memorial at Boyne Highlands Resort. BOYNE Golf worked with Best Approach, a leader in golf course media, to create the new Apps providing golfers with 3-D flyover visuals of each hole, yardage information, and audio descriptions. For those that prefer their guides in print form, the courses will also have new, comprehensive yardage guides utilizing GPS mapping and 3-D scaling. The new Apps can be downloaded from Google Play and the iTunes Store.
BOYNE Golf offers the largest collection of golf courses in the Midwest with 11 courses and three resorts including Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs and Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, and The Inn at Bay Harbor - A Renaissance Golf Resort in Bay Harbor. The resorts offer a bevy of accommodations and wide range of recreations from ziplining and biking to fishing and spas, as well as instruction through the BOYNE Golf Academy.
