Boyne Highlands Resort Announces Appointment of New General Manager

HARBOR SPRINGS, Mich. - Boyne Highlands Resort today announces the recent appointment of Mike Chumbler as the resort's President and General Manager.  He succeeds Brad Keen who has been named Senior Vice President of Central and Eastern Resort Operations along with his additional current role, Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage, both for Boyne Resorts, the resort's parent company.  Chumbler will oversee all winter and summer operations of Boyne Highlands Resort--the Lower Peninsula's largest ski area and home of the Golf Channel's Big Break X: Michigan.

Chumbler has worked among the BOYNE collection of resorts and retail locations in northern Michigan his entire career.  He first entered the organization as an intern from Ferris State University.  Joining in 1996 as an Assistant Golf Professional, he began a career path common within the four-season resort industry, and moved from golf to various retail and snowsports positions during the winter months.  Climbing quickly within the management teams of golf and of ski operations, he was named Director of Golf in 2001, eventually overseeing the customer-focused operations of all eleven BOYNE golf courses, including two semi-private golf clubs, and managing snowsports equipment rental for Boyne Highlands and Boyne Mountain during the winter months.

"I am very proud personally of the process we carried out to get us to this point," said Keen.  "It has been a very humbling experience for me to help choose my successor and I couldn't be happier with the outcome."

Chumbler will officially step into his new role on January 1, 2015.

"Mike is prototypical of the best of our next generation of leadership, having in his DNA the natural skills for hospitality, guest service and empathic leadership," said Stephen Kircher, president of Boyne Resorts' Eastern Operations.  "He is the best-suited individual to carry on Boyne Highlands' renowned tradition of incredibly friendly service."
