Hilltop Happy Hour at Graham Chapel

Category: Events Resort

For those who know me, it comes as no surprise that I am thrilled that Boyne Highlands is hosting the Michigan Brewers Guild's annual winter conference this week. With our success hosting our Brew-Ski Festival and Hops 'n Highlands Microbrew Festival along with our extensive beer lists, it's no secret that Boyne Highlands is passionate about celebrating some of the best beer on earth.

As details of the event came together, every meeting and session of this conference included a spread of Michigan beer. However, one event stood out to me: a hilltop beer reception, a truly unique experience. I knew immediately this was an event I would not miss!  I not only wanted to capture photos of this unique group event but I also wanted to enjoy a beer and the chance to meet some of the people who have developed their passion for great beer into a movement. I continue to be impressed by the diverse groups of people that come together at a bar or brewery for a well-crafted beer, and for that I consider the people behind this movement visionaries.

Here's a recap of my beertail adventure! It started at 7pm on a cloudy but comfortable night. The slopes were bustling with skiers and riders as I joined a group of folks on the chairlift. For many, this was the first time on the lift. For all, this was the first time for an event like this. At the top of the lift, a beautiful tiki torch-lit path led us to the Graham Chapel where three kegs of beer awaited. I enjoyed a pint with some folks attending the conference before settling in to take some pictures and capture the occasion. As I worked my way around I couldn't help but to overhear all the comments about what an escape from the ordinary this was. With a light snow beginning to fall my work was done and it was time to head back down the chairlift where I enjoyed a beautiful view of the resort village all lit up and bustling below.

While the majority of the winter conference events and sessions are only open to registered attendees, I am happy to invite you all to join us tonight in the Zoo Bar as the Michigan Brewers Guild kicks off their new "Great Beer State Concert Series" with The Orbitsuns. Enjoy a selection of Michigan beers with many of the folks who brew them and take in the sounds of one of the Motor City's favorite bands.

I'll see you there!

Cheers,

Ben
