Boyne Highland's Four-Legged Friends

You know when you are approaching the Boyne Highlands entrance when you see the yellow, "horse crossing" sign and a field of our four-legged friends grazing in the sunlight. Our Equestrain Center is full of fun, loving creatures who we would love for you to meet. There are a total of 12 horses at the center and during trail rides 10 are out and ready to take you on an adventure. On a typical work morning, staff members arrive to prepare for another day on the trails by picking out horses based on what groups are coming, brushing and saddling the horses and then wait to give orientation to the riders.

Be ahead of the game by becoming a little more acquainted with our lovable friends below.

Boyne Highlands horse Daisy

This is Daisy. She is Morgan mare and is the third oldest of our horses at 20 years old.

White Percheron draft horse

Next up is Prince, who is a white Percheron Draft horse. He may tower over you but is a gentle giant who loves to give hugs and is very photogenic.

Clydesdale Draft Horse

Moving on to our second gentle giant we have Ammus. He is a Clydesdale Draft horse and is 12 years old. He knows how to pose for a photo and always likes attention.

Palemino Belgium Draft Horse

The last of our draft horse is Michael. A beautiful palomino Belgium draft horse who is 16 years old.

White Paint named Cloud

This blued eyed beauty is Cloud. She is 18 years old and usually has to be up in front of the trail rides to steal the show.

Nyrah Bay colored Mare

Here is Nyrah, an 11 year-old mare with a bay colored coat but you can tell her apart from the others because of her white highlights on her face.

Appaloosa Horse

This handsome fella is JT. He is 15 years old and shows off his Appaloosa coat very well.

Abby a 15 year old Morgan Horse

A fan favorite is Abby, who is a sweetheart and very relaxed. She is a 15 year old Morgan and is good buddies with Daisy.

Tucker pony

One of our smaller ponies is Tucker. He is a 16 year-old who sticks around his friend's Daisy and Abby.

Dakota

Our second oldest horse is Dakota. A 24 year-old retired therapy horse who is very intune to his riders and very gentle.

Boomer

Emma is a 16 year old Quarter horse who hangs out with Dakota and loves to get close to the camera!

Boomer

Last but not least, we have Boomer. He is the oldest of the bunch at 25 and knows how to take things easy.
