Young Americans Dinner Theatre: Firsthand Experience

The Young Americas Dinner Theatre has been entertaining and charming audiences at Boyne Highlands since 1978! It is the second longest running dinner theatre in America and has music for all ages, ranging from The Beach Boys, Disney, hit musicals such as Wicked, and so much more! Not only do you get to enjoy the show, but you get to indulge yourself with a gourmet 4 course meal with a variety of entrees to choose from. I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing this firsthand.

Walking in, I became overcome with excitement as I looked around and saw happy faces, Young Americans singing and playing guitar, and even balloon animals, and that was just the ticket area! After my friend and I got our reservation ticket we headed upstairs to be spoiled with a variety of mouthwatering appetizers. During the appetizers, The Young Americans cast started singing and dancing all around the Zoo Bar, going up to groups of people to make sure they were having a good time. After that went on for about 45 minutes, the doors opened and we made our way to our table in the front row. My friend and I shared our table with 5 other wonderful people. After chatting and getting to know each other, one older couple to my left said, "We have been coming to The Young Americans Dinner Theatre for 20 years now and it is the highlight of our summer." After introducing ourselves and getting to know our waiter, The Young Americans hopped on stage and started singing about the first course, salad and rolls. Never would I have imagined that I would find a song about salad to be catchy and quite pleasant, but The Young Americans proved me wrong. The salad and rolls were exquisite and all we could do next was make sure to wipe the drool off our faces and wait for our entrees. As the entrees were being served, I found it very entertaining to look around at my new friend's faces as their delicious meal was being placed in front of them. They looked like 5-year-olds on Christmas about to rip into their first present. My prime rib was cooked to perfection and was devoured in about 10 minutes, along with everyone else's meals around the table. After dinner, the cast sang some introductory songs and not much later came DESSERT, which was a delicious chocolate truffle cake. Once ourselves and the rest of the audience were enjoyably in food comas, the show began. All we could do was sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. The Young Americans Dinner Theatre was one of the most unique and amazing experience of my life and I recommend everyone to experience it firsthand.

Looking forward,
