BOYNE Golf Professionals Raise $33,000 for Local Charities

BOYNE Golf professionals proudly presented checks totaling $33,000 to local charities.  The Manna Food Project accepted a check for $21,500 and The First Tee of Northern Michigan received $11,500.  The donations were the result of nearly a year's worth of fundraising leading up to and following the annual Harbor Cup golf tournament held in September, which pits twelve of BOYNE's golf professionals against area golf professionals in a 54-hole Ryder Cup-style event.

In addition to the Harbor Cup's golf rivalry, there's an equally important commitment to fundraising with each team selecting community organizations and raising money for charity.  Since its inception, Harbor Cup has contributed nearly $300,000 to beneficiaries.  This is the largest donation in Harbor Cup's history.

"It is a great honor to present these donations on behalf of our membership, friends, family and all the supporters of Team BOYNE," said Dave Trudell, captain of Team BOYNE.  "Without their continued support, we would not be able to make such a positive impact in our local community through these two great organizations."

For The Manna Food Project, a pantry and warehouse that supplies food to more than 35 pantries and agencies in Antrim, Charlevoix and Emmet counties, the $21,500 donation provides over 130,000 meals to community members.

At The First Tee of Northern Michigan, an organization that promotes character development and life enhancing values through the game of golf, the $11,500 donation helps to reach even more youth with expanded programming.

Team BOYNE 2015 Harbor Cup players include Captain, Dave Trudell; Associate Captains, Mike Chumbler, Ryan Brown, and Christian Thompson; and players Bernie Friedrich, Josh Richter, Steve Good, Brian O'Neill, Casey Powers, Jerry Roman, Kyle Roman, Dan Turcott, Zach Zondlo, Mike Fay, and John Myers. For more information on The Manna Food Project, visit www.mannafoodproject.org and to learn more about The First Tee of Northern Michigan, go to www.thefirstteenorthernmichigan.org.
