One of the World's Coolest Indoor Water Parks

Category: Resort Waterpark

Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark at Boyne Mountain Resort is attracting big attention from leading news sources.  The indoor waterpark, the largest in Michigan, has been heralded as one of "The World's Coolest Indoor Water Parks" by Condé Nast Traveler.  The premier travel magazine featured an elite eight waterparks on their website designating them as the coolest in the world.  Parks were featured from Beijing, Germany, Canada, and the United States.  The story has also been prominently featured on MSN.com and FoxNews.com.

For many of you, a trip to Avalanche Bay is a simple car ride away. Wondering what to expect once inside?  I can give you a quick snapshot and a few pointers. If you decide to make a weekend of it verse a day trip, staying at the Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa is highly recommended because it connects to the waterpark - easy in and easy out, especially with multiple kids.

You'll walk through the doors and instantly feel the heat, the park is always a balmy 84 degrees. Get your tickets taken care of at the front kiosk and head straight to the locker room. Bring some quarters with you and this process will go very smoothly. There are family bathrooms nearby and even a swimsuit dryer for when you are done. I personally would choose not to wear sandals once inside, because you'll just end up taking them off. All you need is your bathing suit, towels are provided once the splashing is done.

Every slide offers a different experience, so try them all.  You have to try our newest addition, The Big Couloir! Maybe ride The Big Couloir first, it's such a great rush and makes going from dry to wet, very quick and easy. Bring your camera because you will want to catch the expressions of your friends and family as they make the drop. This amazing slide really is fun and lasts about six-seconds...if I can do it, you can do it!

Take your time at Splasherhorn Mountain. You won't want to miss the avalanche of water, the horn will blow to alert you when it's time for the 800 gallons of water to pour down. Grab a couple of tubes to relax in the Boyne River and make a couple loops - you are suppose to be lazy in the river. The younger kids can splash in the Kitz Pool, the older kids can take their turn on the Rip Zone Surf Simulator, and you could head to the Glacier Hot Spring to soak. There are so many great attractions, no one will be bored, I promise.

Fun lurks around every corner at Avalanche Bay and what I always tell people - the park truly is fun for everyone in the family, every age and ability. This isn't just a kids' park, it's one of the coolest water parks in the world!

So, if you have never been to Avalanche Bay....my advice to you, is plan a trip now because the secret is out!

xoxo, Kari
