When you think of getting a facial, what do you imagine? Guess what, you are right! Wait a minute, how do I even know what you are thinking? That's the beauty of getting a spa facial at Solace Spa, there are multiple treatment options, and you can even customize your experience to your skin's needs. I will let you check out the treatment page yourselves and spare you all the wonderful details because I want to tell you about my facial experience that changed my beauty routine forever. Forever (that's a really long time).
First of all, I had the common misconception that a facial was not something that I needed, it was just another fabulous way to pamper yourself on vacation. Boy was I wrong. I got into a skincare conversation with Solace Spa Manager, Megan Coleman, about my routine, and let her in on the fact that I couldn't find a facial cleansing product that didn't completely dry out my skin, so I just stopped using facewash. My skin survived for a short while, but now I noticed the dry spots were back and I was oily at the same time. She was very gracious in her reply, saying that there were products that would work for me and she was going to connect me with her Esthetician, Anna Baldori, to help me figure it out. So, I booked an Epicuren Customized Facial.
How well do you know your skin type? I have sensitive skin, well, at least that's what I think I have, so I was a touch nervous on how my skin would react to a facial. I came in for my treatment and started with a consultation with Anna on my routine and skin type. I also got to pick a scented lotion for my foot massage, bonus!
As I settled into the curved table, she started with steam to open my pores. This also gave her time to choose the proper products to use on my skin. She explained each product and how it would benefit my skin. She applied an Epicuren Herbal Cleanser, it was very mild. She then used a Clarisonic device to work the cleanser in. Am I the only one in the world that wasn't let in on this little secret?! The Clarisonic's soft bristles rotate gently on your skin for a minute of cleansing time to cover your target areas: forehead, chin, and cheeks. It's a deep clean that doesn't agitate your skin, but pulls outs impurities and exfoliates them away. Apparently all the girls in the spa swear by it and said I would too after a few weeks of use. (And they were right, wow!)
Next, Anna chose the Epicuren Apricot Facial Scrub to further remove impurities and dead skin. It was very soft and soothing, not at all what I expected. She removed the scrub using a warm damp towel, gently wiped it away, and then lightly applied some pure aloe vera. I felt clean and refreshed. She then placed eye pads on my eyes and applied a hydrating mask to calm my skin down. This part was very relaxing. As the mask worked it's magic on my face, I enjoyed a 10-minute foot massage. She wiped away the mask with the warm towel and extracted a few unmentionables...ok, admit it, we all have some clogged pores, but not anymore! The treatment ended with moisture and a facial massage. Anna chose an Epicuren Colostrum Cream for my dry, sensitive skin. She even applied hydrating lip balm to soothe my lips. I simply felt great.
The best part is, upon my departure, Anna placed each product she used, including a Clarisonic, at the spa front desk for me to review. I was so impressed with how my skin felt, I purchased quite a few! Not to sound too sales-y, but the Clarisonic was my favorite purchase, life changing. My skin glows instead of peels!
So yes, a facial can be whatever you want it to be. A learning experience for those in a beauty routine rut like myself or a peaceful, relaxing experience to freshen and revive the first thing people see...your beautiful face.
Take good care of the skin you are in, you only get one chance and you deserve it.
