Another Happy Memory Made

Last night, another happy memory was made at Boyne Mountain.

Matt and Sara first met eight years ago through a mutual friend. According to Matt, he "always thought Sara was a babe" but back then, they were young and just friends. It wasn't until four years later when Matt was a student at Michigan State and Sara came to visit that they began dating.

Matt had been an avid skier his whole life since his parents had made sure to get him and his brother on skis when they were little kids. The family has been coming to ski at Boyne Mountain since Matt was 5 years old.

Sara, on the other hand, had never skied before she and Matt began dating. But three years ago, Matt talked her into giving skiing a try. After a ski lesson with the Boyne Mountain SnowSports Academy, she took off. Now Matt and Sara spend almost every winter weekend skiing together at Boyne Mountain.

After over three years of dating, Matt knew Sara was the girl he wanted to spend his life with. He knew he had to ask the question, and that it had to be special - at a place that was significant to both of them. That's why Matt chose Boyne Mountain. "After giving it some thought," said Matt, "I could not think of a better place filled with more fun and happy memories than at Boyne Mountain where we've had so many of those memories."

This weekend, Matt and Sara spent another weekend together at Boyne Mountain, just like they usually do. But this weekend was different, because this weekend, Matt had special plans for skiing with Sara.

Saturday night, Matt and Sara took a groomer ride to the top of the mountain they'd skied all day long. The groomer stopped at the top of Victor with a clear view of the fireworks that would launch from the neighboring top of Hemlock. But when Matt opened the door of the groomer and hopped out, Sara was confused. Matt assured her, "We'll get a better view of the fireworks from out here." When the fireworks began, Matt nervously kneeled down. As the sky lit up, so did Sara's face. Then, in the place where he and Sara had made so many happy memories, they made a new one. Sara said yes.
