Boyne Mountain's Winter Season Spans 5 Months and Still Going

MEDIA PHOTOS: Taken April 15, 2014

Boyne Falls, Mich. - Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls kicked-off the 2013/14 winter season five months ago today, and it's still going!  The resort is the only ski area in Michigan's Lower Peninsula with chairlifts still spinning this season.  Skiing and snowboarding at the resort is open daily through Sunday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and could continue on weekends after April 20 for as long as conditions allow.

After getting an early start on snowmaking with the resort's proprietary Boyne Low-E fan guns, Boyne Mountain first opened slopes on November 15, 2013.  The winter season then continued to deliver near record snowfall, a total of 189 inches so far, and cold temperatures that kept the snow in top conditions.

This season offers another treat to skiers and snowboarders who enjoyed Boyne Mountain's slopes until April 28 last winter.  Before that, it had been 16 years since the resort was able to ski until the end of April.

"It's really remarkable to have two seasons back to back where the conditions have been this great this late into the spring," said Ed Grice, president and general manager of Boyne Mountain Resort.  "We hope to ski even later than last season if Mother Nature cooperates."

Spring lift ticket rates are in effect.  For the latest on terrain and conditions, visit or call 800.462.6963.

The resort is also hosting a number of Easter happenings this weekend including a brunch, egg hunt, pictures with the Easter bunny, and a variety of kids' and family activities.  For more details, visit
