UPDATE: Boyne Highlands Statement Regarding University of Michigan Incidents on Jan. 16-18

HARBOR SPRINGS, Mich. - During the weekend of Jan. 16-18 at Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs, Mich., varying degrees of damage occurred to 12 individual condo units at the resort.  Two individuals were responsible for multiple booked units, and were separate groups.

Approximately 100 to 120 students stayed at the resort in multi-bedroom cottages and townhouse units.

University of Michigan spokesman Rick Fitzgerald has identified members of the Chi Psi and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternities, and the Delta Gamma and Alpha Phi sororities to be those responsible for causing the damages at Boyne Highlands Resort.

The worst of the damages included broken furniture, fixtures and doors, holes in drywall, and soiled carpeting and upholstery requiring deep cleaning and/or replacement.

Repairs and cleanup have been ongoing since the incidents and all 12 units are back into rental management as of today, Friday, January 30, 2015.

"We are expecting full repayment of damages from the individuals responsible," said Mike Chumbler, president and general manager of Boyne Highlands Resort.

Boyne Highlands is currently in discussions with the individuals responsible for the rooms, and is not releasing any further information about the incidents at this time.

A report was filed with the Michigan State Police on Jan. 22, 2015.  Legal action could also be pursued.
